Sailed from New York on the Atlantica to Copenhagan. Fabulous itinerary but awful service from the senior officers. Had quite a few problems and issues but these were ignored by the Cruise Director and Hotel Director who were arragoant and extrememly unhelpful. Staff were great, friendly and keen to go that extra mile. Italians never queued for anything and were pushy and rude. Will never cruise with Costa again and neither should you, unless of course you speak Italian as you great treated like second class if you can not. Have to say at this point, I do love Italy and the Italians in general and I holiday in Italy in Tuscany at least once a year so I am not against Italians.

Just one of the problems we had involved the Spa- We both paid a lot of extra money for the spa cabins and that price included 3 spa treatments of our choice from the full treatment menu according to their website. However when we got on board the choice was very limited to a choice between only 4, and you were not allowed the same treatment twice. All were treatments designed for females and they did not allow us to change to more male orientated treatments considering we were both guys. The Spa Manager was to discuss our problem with someone more senior, we are still awaiting a response and because of their failure to get back to us in time we had only 3 out of the 6 treatments in total that we had paid for. It seems their attitude towards complaints, not only from us but from others on board, is to 'hold out and give no response as the complainers will be off the ship and on their way home soon enough' anyway'.

We do not usually complain, and working in the Hospitality Industry I do understand that things can go wrong. It is not the issues that arise that upset or anger me that are necessarily the main problem, but it is the way in which these are handled that has the potential to 'make or break' a cruise experience. When you are not taken seriously, are ignored and treated like a second class passenger- thats what causes the real damage.

Have to say the cruise was an awful experience, but it was Costa's loss as we are frequent cruisers and they will never have our business again. We have 3 booked for 2012, just imagine Costa how much lost revenue that means to you- or perhaps you don't even care.
