We recently completed a Med cruise aboard the Norwegian Jade. The trip began and ended in Barcelona, Spain with stops in Rome, Athens, Izmir, Valletta and a planned stop in Egypt that got torched by the protest in Cairo and Alexandria. Since we couldn't go to Egypt Norwegian rerouted our trip to Istanbul, Turkey. At first I was disappointed and upset that we were going to a cold rainy place rather than a warm dry place that was the reason for choosing this cruise but, Istanbul turned out to be very nice (not the Pyramids but very nice). On board the entertainment was excellent but the food just average.

We had a mini-suite (11150) on the 11 deck at the back of the ship that was directly below the Great Outback dining area and that caused some trouble that was eventually resolved. Every night at about midnight the deck crew would scoot and bank around the chairs while cleaning the deck. Every morning between 4 and 5am the did the same thing putting the chairs back out for the new day. After repeated complaints the crew finally resolved the problem and sent us some nice things to our cabin as a concession. Other than that the cruise was great. The ship was renamed the Jade from the previous Pride of Hawaii 3 years ago but the interior is still all Pride of Hawaii. For a cruise of 12 or 21 days the ship really needs to be modified with laundry areas as current travel restrictions make it difficult to pack enough.

The cruise line constantly warned of booking our own side trips but we booked all of ours through Cruise Critic blogs and all turned out fantastic and saved a lot of money. It's all in the planning!!!

For the money it was a good cruise experience with a lifetime of life and historical memories.
