Discover P&O Cruises Ships

Oceana

Oceana is a large, family-friendly cruise ship, carrying over 3,000 passengers, but with the intimate atmosphere of a smaller vessel. Her bars, restaurants, shops and lounges have been designed to flow seamlessly through the ship and this makes for a sociable and informal atmosphere with P&O Cruises. At the centre of the ship is a magnificent atrium, complete with palm trees, marble staircase and gleaming glass lifts. Oceana's staterooms are comfortable and spacious with little extra touches like fresh flowers and dishes filled with wrapped sweets. For an extra-special cruise holiday you can also opt for your own balcony or a sumptuous suite.

For dining, Oceana offers a choice when it comes to the main restaurants of both Club and Freedom dining. Freedom Dining means you can eat when you're hungry, between 6pm and 10pm, with a choice of à la carte menu and buffet-style dining. She also has several other restaurants to try, including al fresco dining on deck at the Horizon Grill for great steaks and seafood. Oceana's Café Jardin, endorsed by Marco Pierre White, is a light and airy eatery, which is open 24/7 and serves tempting bistro fare that you and your kids will love.

With plenty of activities for four different age groups, your kids will be off doing their own thing, meaning you have got plenty of ways to spend your day. The ship has broad decks with four sparkling swimming pools and six whirlpools to enjoy and there is even a sports court ingeniously housed in the ship’s funnel. The Oasis Spa, which is run by Harding Brothers rather than the usual Steiner, includes a small but well-equipped fitness centre, large aerobics room and beauty salon, all with superb ocean views. There is also a plunge pool, a sauna and a range of treatment rooms. A variety of classes run throughout the cruise, including aqua, salsa aerobics, Pilates and Chi Yoga.

In the evening, you'll find lots of bars and lounges above and below deck onboard Oceana, all with their own special ambience. There is Magnums, a lively Champagne bar, Winners’ - the funky midships bar and the Yacht and Compass, which is a traditional English pub. You also have your pick of lively venues where you can listen to music, take in a show, watch a cabaret or laugh along with a stand-up comedian. Oceana’s welcoming and informal atmosphere makes her a very popular shup, with cruisers of all ages.

Facilities

Features

  • Dining: Two dining rooms, several casual eateries and three pay extra premium dining venues including the new Marco Pierre White input to Jardin. Many people comment favourably on the Indian waiting staff who are unobtrusive and yet very attentive
  • Family amenities: Three clubs covering children from two to 13, and lots of appearances from children’s TV stars with a very British bias, but these child-friendly extras can vanish outside the school holidays so check before booking
  • Top accommodation: Refurbished in 2003 when she moved from Princess Cruises, there are still some less than stellar features to the accommodation. Even the biggest suites still only have a curtain between the sleeping and living areas, and the two doors into the bathroom look useful but can just lead to embarrassing situations
  • Entertainment and facilities: rather like reruns of comfortable family TV viewing, the Oceana entertainment is cosy rather than cutting edge, on the other hand, there are some great small venue musical acts worth seeking out
  • Tipping: at your discretion
