World Cruise Holidays

Usually lasting for around three months at a time, the World Cruise is the ultimate odyssey in cruising terms. For many, it's a once in a lifetime experience, brimming with so many different sights, sounds and sensations, that it absolutely spoils you for just about anything else at all.

Sights to see

Sights to see

From transiting the great, jungle shrouded waterway of Panama to your first sight of the surreal, soaring peak of Mount Otemanu in French Polynesia, the world is, quite literally, your oyster. Few things beat sailing under the lithe, graceful sweep of the Golden Gate at San Francisco. Unless, of course, that first adrenaline surge as you see the great coat hanger bridge and Opera House at Sydney's Darling Harbour moves you just that little bit more.

Sailing into the magnificent bay of Rio De Janeiro would have to be an absolute highlight for anyone and, as a classical, magnificent contrast, making the climb to the top of Athens' mighty Acropolis would be a pretty hard act to follow, for sure.

Eating your way around the world, too? Pick your own lobster dinner from a tank near Singapore's Clark Quay, or maybe enjoy prime New Zealand lamb in the country of its birth. The options are, quite literally, as limitless as the horizon.

You could sample classic sushi in Los Angeles, or even ostrich in Cape Town. And, for a quick but exhilarating snack, consider a plate of freshly prepared souvlaki at a waterfront taverna in the Greek islands.

Useful Information

It's worth pondering how much luggage you will need to take well in advance. Remember that it has to fit in your cabin, so it's not a bad idea to check on the laundry cleaning facilities- and, indeed, the costs- aboard your ship well before you sail. It's also likely that you'll end up bringing back far more by way of souvenirs than you expected. Bear in mind that you will have to be able to handle those, too.

You might also want to consider the cost of keeping in touch with friends and family while you're way out there. All those Instagram pictures and other moments that you need to share across social media can make the costs mount up quite considerably, especially over three months. It's prudent to try and get some idea of those costs before you set out on what remains, quite literally, the adventure of a lifetime.
