A Blast from the Past

Recently i have been engrossed in some amazing DVD'S that are available featuring stunning historical footage from ships gone by.

One in particular which is definitely worth checking out is The Cruise Liner Experience:1950's and 1960's. This DVD features some brilliant footage including a short piece named "Holiday With Everything". In short it's description being. This glorious P&O promotional video follows a 'typical' British family on a cruise aboard the liner Arcadia. Between visits to Naples, Dubrovnik and Lisbon, the passengers areseen enoying the finest fruits of civilisation onboard ship!

The DVD also includes footage of the original P&O Oriana through construction in the Barrow shipyards to her launch and first sea trials.

Another set which i really enjoyed was The Liners. This set consists of 4 DVD's each again with it's own theme but this time showing footage from many a year ago right up until the more modern day and the launch of Carnival Destiny. This really is an amazing DVD set for any fan of ocean liners and cruise ships. Once i started watching i literally could not stop. The set is easily available on Amazon and there are a few here and there on ebay.

I managed to find a short video below with some great footage from back in the day. Although this exact footage does not feature on the above it gives you a feel for what you can expect to see from these DVD''s as the theme is exactly the same. It also does a great job of putting a smile on your face looking back at what a cruise used to be like on a hot sunny day and how it really hasn't changed much.

I hope you enjoy it as much as i did
