Ships Anchor

I enjoy ports of call that see the ship anchor just off the coast for various reasons but my biggest is simply because of the amount of other small vessels and so forth that the ship seems to attract attention from

You see all sorts of interesting things, there’s jet ski’s zooming around, luxury yachts effortlessly sailing by, sometimes other huge vessels and smaller sight- seeing boats. Although the ship does exercise a sign telling others stay a certain distance away from the ship I have many a time seen a family on board a small boat get as close as possible to ship just to have a good look at her sheer size

Last year during our call to Cannes we were anchored just off the Marina area, it was an amazing sight. You could see right along the coast and also out to sea. There were various jet ski’s more than I have seen at any other destination and even some boats with a poor soul high in the air above it attached to a parachute.

Although having an anchor port is great you kind of feel slightly cheated when it comes to leaving as there’s no real sail away like there is if you are docked, you just suddenly start moving and before you known it land is far behind you and the horizon is your view
