Car or Coach to southampton cruise port

I have travelled to Southampton by both car and coach and if I am honest the coach journey actually seemed a lot quicker and it was very relaxing indeed

If you choose to go via coach they make regular stops for both breaks and to pick up other travellers, you really don’t feel like you have been on long at all, considering my journey time is several hours. The coach is very well equipped, leather seats, more than average leg room and a great feeling of excitement. It is also a nice way to say hello to some of your fellow cruisers

The longest part of the journey for me is the last hour, you are getting closer to the docks so the road signs start to appear but because you are so excited to just get there it feels like you are never getting any closer. I get this feeling thought regardless of how I am actually getting there

Travelling by car is great as obviously you can stop at your leisure and can maybe travel down the evening before if you do live further away. You have your own space but if you are the driver I am sure you would appreciate not having to make the mammoth drive if you had a choice

My journey starts at roughly 5am where I meet the coach at a local services, last year we had a slight delay due to traffic so took a more scenic route but we were still at the dock before 2pm. It sounds like a long journey of which it was but it really only felt like a few hours thanks to the short breaks and stops to pick up other people

If you have thought about taking the coach but always end up taking the car then re consider it. You really may well be surprised as I was at just how comfortable the coach and journey can be.
