Deck 17 Aft
My recent Cruises have been on board the P&O Ship Ventura, a lovely ship and one I have personally grown quite fond of.
Cruising on the ship a few times I have developed a love for one specific area where I like to relax on Sea days. I tend to sit Aft on Deck 17 where I can have a full view of all lower decks and the Terrace pool. I love to sit here because everything is within view, you can relax and watch the world sail by, have a great view of what’s going on for the nosy neighbour in you but best of all you can stand, walk 10 feet and you’re on the starboard side of the ship where you’ll find a lovely cooling and shaded breeze, you get the best of both worlds. Not so great on port days however when the heat chokes you but still a nice place to take 5 and shade yourself from the sun.
I tend to find that other people develop the same feeling when it comes to Sea Day’s. Another thing I love about Cruising. The first few days are usually people deciding where to base themselves but when they do finally find that spot the majority tend to stay there. Due to this I’ve never found myself having a problem getting a sunbed or spot on deck to put one, it’s great! It really is as though an invisible sign says “Someone is sitting here” and people walk right past.
It’s such a strange feeling though when I get back on the ship, sometimes it almost feels like I was never away but the wait in between always seems to drag on for as long as possible, almost as though time just stops. The first week feels like an eternity but then the second week is gone in the blink of an eye and Southampton looms upon us once more.
