Give the cruise staff a break
Todays blog post is a little bit of a personal rant. I am sorry all but sometimes these things need to be said
I have done a few cruises in my time and I will never take for granted the service that is provided whilst onboard. People can argue with me and say well I am paying for my cruise holiday so I expect the best service possible but this doesn’t mean you have to be rude to those people who are providing that service if they fail to meet your need in that instant
On my cruise last year I was scanning the inner deck to locate my suitcase, usually I find it either in my cabin or right outside the door but last year it had been placed a few cabins down. No big deal, it’s on wheels and I have arms and legs I am sure I can move it myself the 10 or so feet to my own cabin. As I was doing this a couple were proceeding to make the life of their cabin steward a living hell as their cases had not been put outside their cabin either. Rather than ask politely for help to move the cases they hollered at their cabin steward like he was something they had trod in and demanded he move their bags there and then, this was not acceptable that they had to move them themselves.
Now is it just me or do some people forget their manners when they board their cruise vessel? Or for some reason suddenly believe they have the right to talk down to their onboard staff? Yes we work hard to pay for our cruise holidays but also remember these people work solid for months at a time and I am sure occasionally they slip slightly behind on their duties, like you and I they are only human and have only one pair of hands
I want to say a big thank you to every crew member from every cruise line in the world past and present for making our cruise holidays amazing, the service provided is second to none and most of us really do appreciate the little extra things you do for us, like my cabin steward last year who managed to more or less fill my bed with oatmeal biscuits. Thank You!
