Is that really all for one cruise?
I made some friends aware of my blog yesterday and had some lovely comments including “ it was like a nautical SATC” imagine that ladies I am the Ocean goers Carrie Bradshaw, such a compliment. So can I have my New York apartment now please? No? Anyway……………..
My most recent cruise was in August of 2010, It was my first visit to the new Ocean Terminal in Southampton and the first time I have witnessed the loading of supplies, I was totally in awe at the sight I could see! I know there are thousands of mouths to feed daily but I was completely glued to the spot whilst waiting to disembark, just by the sheer volume of consumable items including what seemed like a 20 foot tall mountain of alcohol.
I know we all like to let our hair down whilst on holiday and have a beverage or two or three but I really was stunned, all of this for one ship!? For one cruise!? Not possible!
I say a huge well done to the soul who is responsible for making sure whilst we cruise the world’s oceans we have more than enough food and drink to quite possibly sink the ship, can you imagine for one second the riot that would ensue if god forbid the beer kegs were short by a few HUNDRED! Or the problems that would arise with guests if there were no white wine by the second week, I can’t stand to think about it for another second.
Whilst on the subject of food and drink I would like to point out to everyone that the baking of bread on board is a daily routine, so please when eying up what presents itself as the last brown roll in the Ship’s cafeteria please do not long jump over other guests to get to it, there is more, you need NOT panic at this stage.
