Make your bank aware of your cruise
Many people when embarking on their cruise holiday do forget to inform their bank of their trip. Although it’s probably something that lies at the back of your mind it is definitely worth making this a MUST DO on your pre-holiday list.
Remember your cruise holiday will take you to different countries each day, using your credit or bank card one day in Spain and the next in France will flag your account and you may well find your bank cancelling the card because they think it has been stolen. This happened to me on my first cruise and I was unable to access my money, it can also cause an issue if you registered the same card with the cruise line as you boarded in order for this to be the payment method for your cabin bill.
It takes seconds to notify your bank of your planned trip and they can input the information into your account notes therefore if suspicion was raised they can check and see you are on holiday and the card has not been stolen or misplaced.
Many travel agents now also offer credit cards that you can pre pay money too. These are a great idea as they are accepted worldwide and should your card be stolen or lost anyone trying to access it can only spend what is on the card. This avoids you getting a huge bill or all the money from your personal banking account stolen. These cards can be topped up too and should you be on holiday and run out of money family members back home can make a payment to the card that transfers instantly.
It is the little things that make all the difference and in this case not telling the bank about your cruise could see your holiday become very firmly budgeted
