Navigating your ship
If you are cruising for the first time or trying a new ship it can be quite daunting when you board and realise just how big the vessel actually is.
At first you may feel intimidated and ask yourself if you will ever find your way around. The simple answer to that is yes. Although huge in size ships are well fitted with maps and plans on more or less every deck. You may also find a small pocket map in your cabin which will make navigating your way around even easier.
Once on board for a day or so you will soon have explored your ship and no doubt noted down the most important venues and how to get to them. Take note though that not all lifts go to all decks so be sure you double check your location before you start going up and down on a never ending journey. You may find you can take the lift for example to deck seven but then depending where you are on the ship i.e. forward, aft or mid-ships you may need to walk down another deck before you reach your destination. This is common on many ships simply because of the larger venues like restaurants and theatres that take up a larger space, they can’t have a lift going through the middle of them now can they.
Take it all in your stride, I have found surprisingly that the larger ships are in fact much easier to navigate than the smaller cruise ship.
