Should cruise ships be all inclusive?

I recently ran a question on our cruise ships facebook page asking our members if they think cruise ships should go all inclusive and abolish the individual prices for drinks

The response was very interesting, a lot of the people who answered NO to this question always referred back to things like “why should those who don’t drink be charged more to satisfy those who do”. Well I was quite interested in these comments because there was no mention of alcohol yet most people who answered NO always referred to it

So I will word the question better and ask do you think cruise ships should be all inclusive for all drinks? This including alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and things like hot chocolate and cappuccino’s which are also often an added charge

I can side with both parties on this as I agree if you don’t drink alcohol then you may well feel you are losing out but what if there could be select packages you can buy whilst booking your cruise holiday for either alcohol or soft drinks/hot beverages?. An option clearly set out that you can pre purchase before you get onboard and to include what you want it too. It would certainly be something new and I am sure many of us would appreciate it regardless of what we like to sip whilst on holiday

Royal Caribbean recently introduced drinks packages but again these are all more or less alcoholic drink packages and are only available on three of the line’s ships. I personally would like to see more drink packages and on a wider scale to include more than just alcohol

The cabin bill can sometimes run quite high because of the separate cost of drinks and then on some cruise ships the added % to the initial cost. So what if the drink packages were not an option can we not get rid of the added tax on our drinks?

So many questions but so few answers, maybe this is something the cruise lines are already working on, I guess we will soon find out
