Some Interesting Places: French Riviera
The best thing about a cruise is the fact it allows you to wake up in a different location almost every day. Although I do love sea days there’s nothing better than awaking from your slumber to find yourself in a brand new place that awaits your exploration.
Since I started Cruising I have been lucky enough to see some gorgeous places and my favourite has to be the French Riviera. It oozes with sophistication and glamour. There are boutique stores and lovely dock side Café’s. I really could sit and people watch all day. Although this can be a pricey area it is definitely a place I look forward to visiting on a yearly basis. With most calls in this region also being land by tender it is nice to sit and admire the ship from a distance, you can get some beautiful photographs whilst you lounge surrounded by expensive cars and multi million pound yachts. If visiting Cannes I might like to suggest you leave your purse on board. Cannes is a gorgeous place and it pleases the eye before you even leave the ship. The only flaw with Cannes I found was that you one minute are casually strolling along and then suddenly you are bombarded with designer stores. Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, Emporio Armani, Jimmy Choo and Gucci are just a few of them. It could turn into a very expensive port of call.
I also enjoyed Sicily, I visited Palermo a few cruises ago and took the trip to the Capuchin Catacombs. That to date is the best excursion I have been on. It was gruesomely fantastic! I would definitely like to visit here again. We also caught a glimpse of the Sultan of Amar’s yacht whilst here, very rich indeed and his ship board staff were very pleasant, blessing us on our journey as we left the port.
Some places don’t quite cut the mustard so to speak so I tend to admire them from the comfort of the ship. I take a casual “I’ve walked round the ship and seen this area from every angle, therefore I’ve seen it” attitude then head back to my sun lounger, cocktail and book.
What more could you possibly want, apart from another Cruise of course.
