Some light hearted rivalry

Have you noticed when you go on a Cruise holiday and pass or dock next to another ship there always seems to be some light hearted rivalry like “my ships better than your ship” or you stand in sheer amazement of the other ship asking yourself “why on earth am I not on that”.

For example on my cruise this year I was fortunate enough to see the Celebrity Eclipse rather close up. She was docked right next to us in Gibraltar. If you have never been to Gibraltar the dock is not very wide but can accommodate a ship either side, it’s similar to something you would find in the Caribbean and the ships are very close once docked and tied up. If you are also on another huge vessel you can peer across and literally see right into the opposite ship.

Anyway this ship was amazing! Passengers actually had what looked like spa baths on their cabin balconies, one cabin I am sure had a total of 6 sliding doors! It was clean and sharp and really did ooze with sophistication and glamour. They even had various sections with beautiful sun loungers adorned with cushions and other little luxuries. I could see fully why it was a Celebrity Solstice class ship.

Although it looked amazing I must admit our sail away party was in full swing and everyone was enjoying it, passengers on the Eclipse also got involved shouting across and dancing on their Balcony’s. There was some light hearted exchange of the ships whistles and passengers on both ships were interacting and having what seemed to be the biggest Mexican wave competition on the planet.

I suppose it’s one of those “well the moral of the story is” because although there ship was beautiful ours was definitely the one to be on! We partied well into our sail away, the sun was bleating down on us and although slightly depressed to be heading back to Southampton we were definitely enjoying every second of our ship and cruise
