Spa at sea when onboard cruise ships

A visit to the Spa during your cruise holiday is wonderfully rejuvenating. You leave feeling like you have been pampered and touched by the hands of royalty, and so you should. Cruise Ships offer some of the world’s best Spa facilities, the biggest Spa provider in the world is Steiner and they have Spa’s on over 100 of today’s super liners. Treatments vary between cruise lines but they all offer something seductive to leave you feeling blissfully refreshed.

If you are considering a small pampering treat then here are some suggestions of treatments you may well fall in love with, these treatments are offered to both women and men and are often found not only on the world’s larger cruise ships but also on many of today’s river cruises too.

Oxygen Facial – This is a high pressure blast of Oxygen that feeds the skin serums packed full of vitamins, minerals and collagen. The result is a clearer, smoother face and has in fact been described as the equivalent of two weeks in the Swiss Alps. The treatment works by charging oxygen levels in the skin thus resulting in better circulation and skin cell regeneration which leaves the skin positively glowing. It is essentially a blast of high pressured oxygen and has been described as the equivalent of two weeks in the Swiss Alps in an hour and a half.

Deep Tissue Massage – Massage therapy is extremely popular and surprisingly it’s quite high on a man’s pamper list whilst on board. Relaxing and unwinding this treatment lets you feel those muscular aches and pains ease away. Men are drawn to the deep tissue massage treatment especially if they are keen sportsmen. The body is left feeling less rigid and much more flexible.

Mud Therapies – 53% clay, 36% minerals, 4% water and 7% organic substance mud therapies are popular and offer an all over body experience. Moor mud is the most popular used as it is packed full of minerals, enzymes, organic botanicals, natural antibiotics and vitamins. Although it does not smell particularly appealing it relieves muscle aches, invigorates the body, refines skin texture, eliminates dead skin cells and is highly detoxifying.

Cellulite Reduction and Revitalizing Leg Therapy – An interesting treatment and usually favoured by women this detoxifying treatment helps eliminate toxins using faradic and galvanic stimuli thus toning and firming the targeted areas. It also alleviates water retention and guarantees inches will be no more after just one treatment.

Botox – Proving ever more popular on land it is also now available at sea. Botox softens wrinkles on various locations on the facial area. It is made up of a purified protein and is deemed safe to use with no proven medical effects. Results show a younger and refreshed appearance, results are visible within days and can last up to four months.

Egyptian Ceremony of Milk and Ginger – A treatment that lasts around 5 hours and focuses on every aspect of the body and ultimately the mind. This treatment is something unusual. It offers an exotic and enriching milk bath, lime and ginger salt glow, Coconut rub and Milk ritual wrap or float, Chakra balancing massage and Japanese silk booster facial. Enter feeling good and leave feeling amazed and rejuvenated. These tried and tested techniques and treatments are the ultimate in pampering and relaxation. One of the more costly Spa options but worth every penny.

I had the most incredible massage EVER on the new NCL EPIC spa-largest at sea to date. It was called a Thai massage , a warm rounded cloth filled with fantastic herbs that are massaged and infused into every part of your massaged body. It was 50x's better than a hot stone massage. Everone needs to try this massage. Ask for Michaela. Ahhhh! I can still bring back the memories of that exquisite massage.
