The sometimes dreaded cruise cabin bill

If you are like me when it comes to going on holiday you tell yourself “I’m allowed too I’m on holiday” when it comes to extravagant splurges or an extra cocktail….or two! Yet I still can’t help myself when it comes to trying to keep the cabin bill at a respectable level.

I don’t check my interactive account on a daily basis but I do often forget as it is so easy to do so that I have to pay for my spending spree before I can leave the ship. It is incredibly easy to get carried away on your cruise, not because you never exchange cash but because it is easy to simply charge your life to your cabin account, you can do this without even having to move. The on board staff I believe are fitted with some kind of “passenger drink distress device” that allows them to know instantly when someone needs a top up or they wish to purchase a bottle of the finest champagne. As soon as you lift your head to grab the attention of the nearest waiter he is standing right in front of you, pen drawn ready to take your order, it’s almost scary.

I have met people in the past who have spent thousands of pounds whilst on board, yes I said thousands of pounds!! but on what? I am a typical woman I like to spend my pennies and when I am on holiday I do tend to spend more than I had told myself I would but I really can’t work out what you could spend so much on whilst on the ship. I mean it’s not as if you can charge another cruise to your cabin account. Yes people will argue the facilities like the Spa and small added charge restaurants that are on board but please, what did you do? purchase shares in the spa!?

Rant over I suppose the moral of this un avoidable cost is to not even try and give yourself a budget, you won’t stick to it. Just board your ship knowing you are going to have the time of your life and for those 2 weeks not even money matters.

I love the Spa treatments, I wait for the specials. I save all year so I can be pampered.I usually book the spa package. I also love the special dining restaurants, service is wonderfue, makes you feel like royalty.
