17th body found on board Costa Concordia

It has been confirmed that another body has been found onboard the stricken cruise ship.

Italian authorities have confirmed divers found the body of a woman on deck six which was submerged. They also confirmed fourteen of the now seventeen recovered bodies have been identified but there are still fifteen people missing.

It has been 15 days now since the Costa Concordia ran aground just off the Italian island of Giglio and still they are searching and trying to salvage the 114,000 tonne ship.

Efforts to extract roughly half a million gallons of fuel from the stricken vessel were also put on hold when high seas dislodged a barge attached to the hull. The barge was acting as a platform for removing the fuel. The Dutch firm Smit were employed to start the removal of fuel today.

Although this has been a true modern day tragedy it seems the incident has not deterred people from wanting to cruise. In recent days there has been numerous chatter in forums and across outlets like Facebook and twitter to suggest people are not afraid to get back on board. In wake of such a disaster this is a blessing for the cruise industry as a whole.
