Costa Concordia passengers sue for $460 million
It has been reported that six passengers have filed a complaint against Carnival Cruise Lines demanding $460 million in compensation.
The news was reported by the ANSA news agency and the lawyer acting on behalf of the six passengers has said legal action was launched on Friday in a Miami court.
Carnival Cruise Lines is the parent company of ship owner Costa Cruises.
Just 24 hours ago Costa Cruises reached an agreement with Italian consumer groups for an offer of at least $14,400 (roughly £9,000 or 11,000 euro) to be made to each surviving passenger of the incident, this including children. It is said the payment will be made in order to cover all financial losses incured including the loss of baggage and personal items. Costa Cruises will also refund the value of the cruise and reimburse passengers the cost incurred to get back home.
Those payouts will see Costa Cruises provide $52 million in compensation.
