Sun Princess

Sun Princess was at one time the largest cruise ship in the world, but today this still highly regarded ship seems more intimate and less difficult to get around than many of the moster vessels that have followed on from her.

None of that should imply that this beautiful resort ship is an also ran; far from it. Sun Princess has everything you could possibly need for a fully inclusive holiday. There are more bars and eateries than anybody could possibly need for all styles and tastes. And the beautiful, multi level atrium, with its bars, lounges, shopping gallery and sidewalk cafes, is still one of the most beautiful and original people watching spots at sea anywhere.

Feast on anything from fine, flawless formal cuisine to a simple, beautifully grilled burger, perhaps with a side order of fries and some outdoor, poolside sunshine. You can be as active or as stress free as you like, with an on board spa to sharpen your sense of zen, and no shortage of bubbling hot tubs to leave you stress free. If activity is a must, there's a full scale gym, a basketball court, and an extensive walking and jogging track to keep you on your toes.

Nights come alive with every kind of music, from cool jazz to lilting piano melodies, to a full on disco. There are cabarets and floor shows, and a casino that crackles with energy and excitement right through until the early hours,

  • Top accomodation: Six suites with large private balconies, a nice sized bedroom, living room and a dining area
  • Entertainment and facilities: The 2007 refit to bring the ship in line with its all-year-round Australian itineraries was necessary as she was showing her age in many areas and one place she still does is the entertainment which is good but dated, and not as exciting as on many other ships in the fleet
  • Tipping: There’s a charge of around £6 per day added to all accounts, even those of children, which you can adjust at the purser’s desk and a mandatory 15% on bar bills and your wine account in the dining rooms.
