Silver Cloud to Bermuda

A last minute embarkation upgrade saw me ushered into one of the two, forward facing Royal Suites aboard this intimate six star, all inclusive ship. I have never stayed in anything like it, either before or since.

The forward facing living room had a curved, semi circular wall that led out onto  a huge terrace, easily capable of accommodating twenty people. That living room was filled with plush furniture, including a dining table for four. A separate bedroom held a second, en suite bath and shower. Naturally, the main bathroom had a full sized whirlpool bath, and separate shower stall. There was a large entrance lobby, a cloak room, and a separate walk in wardrobe. In short, it was like putting to sea in the Ritz, but without a bill at the end.

Casual, open seating dining could be enjoyed at the centrally located grill, right next to the pool and twin hot tubs, but nicer still was the aft facing terrace of the Lido Buffet. Imagine lamb chops and Belgian waffles for breakfast, washed down with a glass of bubbly, as you cruise the Caribbean. That's the Silversea way of doing things.

The Restaurant is the main dining venue, offering gourmet food in a more formal setting. Silversea passengers do like to dress up at night, but it's still a great, fun experience in a venue where off the menu ordering is encouraged. The meals served in here were feasts on so many different levels.

Our days on board were all about lounging in the hot tubs with a margarita or two. After dinner at night, we would gather outside on the lounge terrace, listening to live jazz and drinking  gorgeous martinis. On some nights there would be a disco but, in the main, the passengers entertained each other with small talk until the small hours.

Everything we wanted was here aboard Silver Cloud. 'No' is a word that does not exist in the Silversea vocabulary. Leaving the Silver Cloud after ten glorious days and nights felt like being taken off life support.
