The biggest change to the ship is that she now has a casino (because USA registered Pride of Hawaii was barred from offering onboard gambling) but Norwegian Jade sails international waters and gambling is allowed. There have been a couple of complaints about the ship, given that she was built in 2006, it’s odd she doesn’t have flat-screen TVs and she has piped music throughout the ship, if that annoys, choose a different vessel!

- Dining: Two main restaurants, plus eight other eateries, some of which operate cover charges – it is often a good idea to make reservations in advance
- Family amenities: Kid’s Club for the younger ones and the Wipe-Out Club which is a teen disco, are just the beginning of a substantial range of child-centred events offered on board
- Top accommodation: The Garden Villa suites are huge, sleep ten in three bedrooms and share a private courtyard which contains a smallish pool, a hot tub and a sort of mini-gym
- Entertainment and facilities: Refitted in 2008 the ship now contains a small casino: in its previous incarnation Jade sailed Hawaiian waters where gambling is illegal. There has been a change in the style of entertainment offered – it’s much more sophisticated now than the former silly but fun contests
- Tipping: The service charge is mandatory on Jade and currently runs at about £5 per person, half that for children aged three to 12
