Ocean Princess

Look out for the amazing ceiling in the library – it’s well worth a visit for that alone. Ocean Princess is not strong on entertainment in the evenings, but that’s okay as her port-rich itineraries make it almost unnecessary to have onboard entertainment. Sea days are often about relaxing and absorbing shore experiences as well as pampering yourself in the small but well equipped spa or enjoying a relaxed drink while watching a technicolour sunset.

  • Dining: Four different dining options on this smallish liner include two cover charge venues for which you need to make reservations as well as a couple of casual dineries – the 2002 refit when she was renamed (formerly Tahitian Princess) also gave a nice upgrade to several of the rooms
  • Family amenities: There is no dedicated child space on the ship and a trained staff member is only available if 20 or more children are booked on a cruise, so expect to entertain your own offspring on most cruises on this particular cruise liner and note the lack of any electronic stimulus suitable for young people
  • Top accomodation: The ten Owner’s Suites that have good sized living spaces, big private balconies and a bedroom facing the sea which can be observed through the full length window
  • Entertainment and facilities: Very much what is offered on other Princess ships but on a smaller scale, fewer day classes, and cabaret acts replacing the big musical shows of other ships in the main theatre
  • Tipping: There’s a charge of around £6 per day added to all accounts, even those of children, which you can adjust at the purser’s desk and a mandatory 15% on bar bills and your wine account in the dining rooms.
