Is Thomson Dream Cruise Ship a Nightmare?

The BBC’s consumer show Watchdog has featured the Thomson Dream in a recent programme, because there are concerns that the line has been misrepresenting the nature of the vessel to passengers.

Passengers who’ve travelled on the liner complain that they were led to believe the ship was ‘the newest and most luxurious ship’ in the fleet, but they didn’t realise that Thomson Dream is only ‘new’ to Thomson Cruises. Thomson Dream was built in 1986 and sailed Costa Europa until least year when it moved to Thomson. Those who’ve been taking the cruises say the ship is dated and needs updating and that it smells of sewage. Some have complained of toilets overflowing with waste being forced up through the sewage system.

A spokesper so n for Thomas Cook spokesman said the company ‘understood … concerns following the Watchdog programme and … Thomson had dealt with the issues raised and that they believe that customers would enjoy a quality holiday onboard Thomson Dream’. Claims about misrepresentation of the newness of the ship are still being investigated after Thomson admitted that so me retail staff may have misinformed customers. The liner is due for repairs in dry dock at the end of this month.
