New Cruise Destination for P&O Cruises

Lifou, Mare and Ouvea are the Loyalty Islands, sumptuous jewelled landscapes in New Caledonia in the Pacific. Pacific Jewel and Pacific Pearl will be making five port calls at Mare in the Loyalty Islands in the year ahead. The islands all feature long white beaches with crystal-clear blue lagoons set against high cliffs that are topped with pines and studded with vast rocky outcrops that stand like ancient castles in the woodland.

Pacific Jewel kicks off the visit schedule as part of a ten day cruise in April that will also include Port Vila and Noumea and a port call at Pentecost Island where vine jumpers can be observed making their heroic leaps from wooden towers as part of a spiritual belief that encourages them to place their lives in the hands of the gods by diving from a platform, with only two vines secured to their ankles. Pacific Pearl is also offering a seven night cruise from Sydney in May which visits so me of New Caledonia ’s other island gems: Noumea and Isle of Pines.
