Carnival Magic Sneak Peek of new cruise ship

The Italian shipyard that’s building her is using the float out to finish work on the ship and to test that the major construction is watertight. She’ll have sea trials in January and be launched in Venice on 1 May 2011. Carnival Magic will feature a pub, the first for Carnival Cruise lines, and an outdoor fitness area that includes a rope climbing/bridge crossing area which is a novelty for the cruise industry as a whole. She’s going to have her maiden voyage sailing from Venice to Barcelona, then a series of seven to twelve night Mediterranean cruises before starting a seven night Caribbean cruise itinerary from Galveston, Texas, starting on 14th November.

The Port of Galveston is going to spend around $11 million on renovating the Texas Cruise Ship Terminal accommodate Carnival Magic. There will be larger waiting areas and more toilets and seating, as well a special system to let passengers to check in and find their cabins assignments before going off to tour the port – a system that will be especially useful during fog delays.
