Cabin prices and upgrade deals

It can be really difficult to compare like with like when looking at cabins, pricing, deals and upgrades. The prices that you see as ‘lowest’ are nearly always inside cabin, two sharing, which means no windows. Here’s a run-down of what the various categories generally describe:

1. Inside cabins, as described, these have no windows at all.
2. Outside cabins are those that have a non-opening window, what used to be called a porthole!
3. French Balcony – a sliding glass door and a tiny ledge like a wide windowsill, rather than a patio area.
4. Balcony cabins usually have a sliding glass door that opens onto an outside patio but may al so be non-sea-view, which means they look back into the ship, rather than out to the ocean.
5. Suites have a bedroom, separated from a daytime living area and a balcony that can be big enough to take a table for suite dining.
