Liverpool is making a major bid to become an international cruise destination and in 2011 it will be visited by nearly a dozen cruise liners from the tiny Ocean Nova to the huge Queen Elizabeth.
Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will also visit, as Royal Caribbean International’s Vision of the Seas, making her first visit to the port. Holland America Line returns with Rotterdam and Ryndam and P&O make their first visit with Arcadia. Back three times in 2011 will be the Princess Cruises superliner Crown Princess who carries 3,114 guests and who has become a regular visitor.
As cruises based in the UK become more popular with those who’ve had bad flight experiences, or who dislike long airport queues, Liverpool hopes to become a regular embarkation port as well as a day call for many more cruise liners.
