There are three big ships fighting it out for full decks in the Caribbean this winter: Allure, Oasis and Epic all fighting for the same market. Allure of the Seas has a secret weapon, a new dual-function restaurant the Samba Grill. It will offer grilled meat type dishes at night, served by waiters dressed as gauchos, and as an adults-only bistro during the day, serving breakfasts, including churros and lunches. The Grill will have a premium dining price of around £12 per person. This is quite different to the healthier dining options being offered by her older sister Oasis.

Norwegian Epic, on the other hand offers a cruise price of £1,063 per person, two sharing, and is enticing people with its ice Bar, the first at sea, where passengers are offered thermal ponchos and gloves to protect them from -8C temperature given off by the solid ice bar behind which the barman serve you in fleece hats! So popular is the venue that a time limit applies and you get two drinks in a 45-minute time slot for £13
