Antarctica Cruise Cancelled

The luxury yacht which launched in May has shown signs of wear during the most recent routine maintenance and safety test. The ship was fully booked.

The cruise line is offering it’s guests an extensive refund package including a full refund on their cruise fare, 10% off a future Antarctic cruise and reimbursement for their airfare and any airfare cancellation penalties.

"Compagnie du Ponant made the decision to replace the parts in Ushuaia prior to any problems arising while in the remote Antarctic region," said Ponant in a statement. We've been unable to reach a company spokesperson, so we're awaiting additional word on the parts or testing. Ponant's statement added: "If the ship had been sailing in any other part of the world, the parts would have been readily available, and the work could easily have been done during its cruise."

The next scheduled cruise is January 19th this cruise is still going ahead.
