Cabins ready before you board with Holland America

Holland America line is promising passengers that cabins will be ready as soon as they board the ship.

It is tendency on the larger cruise ship to not see your cabin ready until early afternoon. Usually you would board the ship and spend an hour or two exploring or eating in the buffet area whilst you waited for the cabin stewards to prepare your stateroom. However Holland America have announced that by the end of February cabins will be ready by 11.30am, this is even before passengers board.

Worry not though, if you are the departing guest you will not be forced to leave your cabin any earlier than normal. A trend see’s more and more passengers opting to carry their own luggage down the gangway in order to get off the ship first. Passengers who choose not to do this will still be allowed to use their cabin and facilities until their scheduled disembarkation time.

This concept is the creation of Volendam’s hotel Manager Rene Tuinman, he said ““We realized that we needed to adjust schedules, without asking staff to work longer hours. Preparation and manpower are the keys.”

I would also like to point out that this new plan comes without the staff having to work any extra hours, they will simply pre plan in advance and do some of the work the evening before turnaround morning.
