Royal Caribbean to get new class of ship

Royal Caribbean International is to get a new class of ship with delivery scheduled for 2014.

The lines parent company has signed a letter of intent with German Shipyard Meyer Werft to build at least one 4,100 passenger ship for the line. The order can also include an option for a second ship

Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean’s parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd said in a statement "This next generation will not disappoint, It will offer features for everyone, from grand spectacular spaces to small intimate settings; from active, invigorating activities to the serenity of more personal space; and from a plethora of dining alternatives to a cornucopia of opportunities for families."

He would not divulge any of the features but he did say to expect new activities and entertainment concepts. The class of ship has been code named “Project Sunshine”.

The line had hinted at this earlier in the year and CruiseCompare covered the story however wheels are firmly set in motion and new ships are on the horizon.
