P&O Cruises has Valentine’s Day covered

P&O cruises have Valentine ’s Day firmly noted as no less than 14 couples are due to be married on board their ships

Ventura is clear favourite for nuptials. The Captain will have his hands full this week as he performs 10 wedding ceremonies and one renewal of vows.

Two couples are due to tie the knot on Oriana and another two on board Oceana. Another couple may also be celebrating on board Azura as she recently abanded her London registry so that weddings could be offered.

All ships are currently in the Caribbean region and each couple’s wedding certificate will show the exact nautical co-ordinates of where their ceremony took place.

Philip Price, P&O's head of brand marketing, said: " A wedding at sea with P&O Cruises is not only affordable but it is also a very romantic notion being married by a ship's Captain. In 2010, 356 couples tied the knot on our ships and we are expecting this number to increase in 2011. Each wedding at sea is a special occasion on board with the couple being able to decide how they would like to celebrate. Some couples have an intimate ceremony alone and some bring large numbers of guests along to celebrate in one of the many venues on board."

More couples than ever are choosing to be married on board cruise ships. Maybe it has something to do with the fact you can be married and start your honeymoon in instant, or the fact that whilst on board you are sure to be treated like royalty.
