Celebrity Summit to become Solstice class

Celebrity Cruises ship Celebrity Summit is the next ship within the fleet to become a solstice class ship

Celebrity Constellation was the first ship to become a solstice class after previously being Millennium class and the company has now announced the same for Summit

The change will come in January 2012 and will see the ship get the AquaClass veranda staterooms that come with their own distinctive décor and special spa privileges. They will also get access to a new Mediterranean themed restaurant called Blu

Other plans include the celebrity ilounge where passengers can buy the latest Apple products, a Martini bar with a frosted counter top, CellerMasters wine bar where patrons can sip wines and attend tastings.

Celebrity Summit suites will gain verandas, new furniture and more sumptuous appointments. Extra ocean-view and inside staterooms are planned, and all accommodations will be restyled with fresh carpet, upholstery and bedding, plus flat-screen televisions.

Celebrity President and CEO Dan Hanrahan cited a "phenomenal response" to the changes made on the Celebrity Constellation as prompting the decision to update the Celebrity Summit following Celebrity Infinity.
