Deadliest Catch tour gives taste of Alaskan crab fishing

Discovery Channel hit show Deadliest Catch follows the daily lives of Crab fisherman but now a lucky few can experience this for themselves

The Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour, based out of Ketchikan in Alaska gives tourists a glimpse of the world portrayed in 'Deadliest Catch’ and for brave tourists who want to experience the harsh reality first hand they can now do so thanks to a 3.5 hour excursion on board Aleutian Ballad

The Aleutian Ballad gained fame as one of the ‘Deadliest Catch’ crab boats in the Bering Sea. Since 2007 she has been starring in a new role seeing her travel into slightly calmer waters giving a glimpse of day to day life in one of the world’s most dangerous jobs. Having almost been capsized by a 60 foot wave on the hit show she is now stretching her legs in a less traumatic location

From May to September up to 149 passengers most of them from cruise ships docked next door pay $159 per person to clamber aboard and head out in search of Dungeness and king crab, squid, prawns and other fish. While the tours include gear demonstrations and a chance to get up close and personal with the critters before they're returned to the deep
