Princess Cruises to resume sailings out of Galveston Texas

Princess Cruises has announced it will resume sailings out of Texas in 2012, something the line has not offered since 2007

Crown Princess will move to Galveston for the winter 2012-2013 season operating a series of 19 night sailings to the Western Caribbean. Voyages will operate from December 22nd 2012 and continue right through until April 27th 2013.

Princess Cruises executive vice president Jan Swartz said "We've received a great deal of feedback from cruisers interested in sailing from Galveston again.” The line said it will release more details of the planned 2012-2103 Caribbean season schedule later this month.

Crown Princess is a larger vessel with more capacity than Princess ships previously based in Galveston. Built in 2006, she is also one of the line's newest and most amenity-packed vessels.

Princess' return to Galveston comes as sister line Carnival is gearing up for a major expansion at the port. Carnival's newest ship, the soon-to-debut, Carnival Magic will begin seven-day Caribbean cruises out of Galveston on November 14th, becoming the largest ship based in Texas year-round.
