Popular pre-cruise Southampton hotel targeted by thieves

A couple nearly missed their cruise holiday from Southampton after their luggage was stolen from their car

The couple were due to set sail on Monday after having had an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn on Herbert Walker Avenue. According to reports thieves broke into their Nissan Almera stealing camera’s and a pair of binoculars, their cases were also ransacked.

The couple, from East Sussex, did however manage to board the P&O Cruise ship Ventura in time for its departure. A second vehicle, a Honda CRV, in the same car park was also targeted by the thieves who stole a Toshiba laptop from inside.

Officers are examining CCTV and asking anyone who can help to call Southampton police station on 101.

If you are travelling to Southampton pre-cruise then please do not leave your cases and other valuables inside your car. Only load your car when you are ready to depart for the dock
