Celebrity Cruises to cut back in the Caribbean in 2012

Celebrity Cruises plans to have only six ships in the Caribbean region during the winter of 2012-2013

The move see’s the line cut back 2 ships from the region as they plan to expand in areas like Australia and New Zealand

Celebrity Cruises has said four of its five new Solstice Class ships, the Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Silhouette will sail in the Caribbean from November 2012 through to April 2013, as well as two of its older Millennium Class ships, the Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Summit. In all, the line will offer 21 distinct itineraries from three home ports

Celebrity Reflection will sail round-trip from Miami on alternating seven-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries, departing on Saturdays.

Celebrity Constellation will operate a series of four and five-night cruises round-trip from Miami.

Celebrity Eclipse will sail 14 night round-trip Southern Caribbean voyages from Fort Lauderdale, plus one eight-night Eastern Caribbean sailing at the start of the season.

Celebrity Silhouette will sail round-trip from Fort Lauderdale on alternating seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, departing on Sundays. New to this itinerary in 2012-13 will be a different Western Caribbean line up, as Celebrity is replacing calls to Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico with calls to Labadee, Haiti and Falmouth, Jamaica.

Celebrity Equinox will sail 10 and 11 night "Ultimate Caribbean" itineraries from Fort Lauderdale.

Celebrity Summit will sail seven night Southern Caribbean cruises with two alternating itineraries, departing on Saturdays from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
