Stop Press, July Southampton parking problems

For the next couple of weeks there will be long tailbacks on one of the busiest routes into Southampton. Queues on Tuesday were an hour long on the inward bound West Quay Road as one lane will be closed between 9.30am to 3.30pm due to the construction of the new headquarters for cruise company Carnival UK. On Tuesday the traffic conditions were made much worse by a Southampton University open day, but you should still allow at least another half-hour journey time to get to the port parking in Southampton. The lane closure is in effect from Harbour Parade to the De Vere Hotel.
