P&O Cruises takes delivery of adult only cruise ship Adonia

P&O Cruises have taken delivery of their latest ship to join the fleet, Adonia

Adonia is set to make her launch later this month but was actually built in 2001 and previously sailed with sister company Princess Cruises as Royal Princess.

Dame Shirley Bassey will name the ship at a ceremony on May 21st in Southampton before Adonia begins her maiden season as a P&O ship on May 22nd. The 710 passenger adult only cruise ship sets sail on May 22nd for a 16 night cruise to the Western Mediterranean

Actor Hugh Bonneville, who recently starred in ITV’s drama Downton Abbey, will also take part in the naming ceremony.

P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said: “Adonia will be the jewel in the P&O Cruises crown and will celebrate all those things our regular passengers love about cruising with us – a classic dance floor, Crow’s Nest observation lounge, formal nights, classical music recitals, guest speakers, silver service dining and a dedicated card room.”
