Celebrity Millennium passenger jumped from ship

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing 63 year old woman who jumped from the Celebrity Millennium cruise ship

Security staff onboard Celebrity Millennium realised the passenger was missing on Tuesday after the ship arrived in San Diego according to company spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez

The crew searched the vessel and made numerous announcements to passengers onboard but all to no avail. The ship’s captain then notified the U.S. Coast Guard, which launched a helicopter and fixed wing aircraft to search the ocean from San Diego to the coast of Cabo San Lucas.

After close review of the vessel's closed-circuit security cameras, images revealed the missing passenger climbing over a deck railing on the edge of the ship and letting go shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, Martinez said.

The search, which covered more than 1,900 square miles, was called off "pending any new developments," according to a USCG statement.
