Carnival Corporation Plc has announced it has reached agreements for the construction of three new cruise ships
Carnival Corporation Plc who own both Costa and AIDA have signed a contract with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of three new vessels. Costa will receive a new 3,700 passenger ship weighing in at 132,500 ton which is scheduled for delivery in October 2014 and AIDA will receive two vessels both weighing in at 125,000 ton with a passenger capacity of 3,250 per ship which are scheduled for delivery in March 2015 and March 2016
The new Costa ship is expected to replace certain older ships within the Costa fleet including the Costa Marina which is set to leave the fleet in November 2011.
Exciting times ahead for shipbuilding and future passengers, with ships becoming more innovative on every build time will only tell what will be in store from these new cruise ships.
