Cruising on your own may turn out to be the best holiday you could ever have wished for.
For many people the idea of going on holiday alone can be upsetting and very daunting however, with a cruise holiday it really should be the exact opposite.
Taking a cruise holiday is an amazing experience and cruising solo is the perfect way for you to meet new and interesting people and even people you may wish to take cruises with in the future.
With a cruise there is no worry of getting lost, you may get lost on your ship of course but it's very different from getting lost on land where panic could set in. The best thing when cruising alone is to take advantage of the meetings and activities some cruise lines offer specifically for those who are travelling alone. Yes that's correct cruise lines will schedule meet and greet's onboard for all solo passengers, this is a great chance for you to make some new friends and who knows maybe romance could blossom.
Although cruising on your own can be expensive it pays to try and book extremely early for some ships that only have limited amounts of single cabins. If you are not lucky enough to get one of these cabins then the best advice is to pick the cruise you would like to do and monitor it's selling progress. For example every other week maybe ring your travel agent just to check availability, when you are only a few days away from the ship sailing then is the time to make your booking. You may still pay a supplement but usually the overall price last minute will be a few hundred pounds cheaper than what it would have been if you had booked say 6 months earlier. I am sure this will be good news as it will increase your spending money and with your saving you should definitely have yourself some pampering in the onboard Spa.
Another nice thing with cruise holidays are your sea days, these are especially good for solo travellers as these days allow you to get to know your fellow solo cruisers or even other people onboard in general. Build friendships (if you want too of course) then come your port days you may find you have some rather pleasent company when you disembark your ship to explore instead of being on your own which i am sure some people do worry about.
Overall a cruise for solo travellers is a great choice, not only is it safer than a land based holiday on your own but it is perfectly catered to your individual needs too, you don't have to have young children with you or have cruised ten thousand times in order to be thoroughly taken care of whilst onboard, you simply have to board your ship in the anticipation of having the time of your life.
