A passenger who was onboard the Holland America Line cruise ship Maasdam has been found dead
The passenger, a 75 year old male was found in the Northumberland Strait by local fishermen. The male passenger was initially reported missing by his wife at approximately 8.12am local time on October 4th. Immediately a ship wide search began but the guest was not located.
The man's body was brought ashore at Abram Village and an investigation is now underway to discover how he ended up in the water, a post-mortem has been ordered.
Holland America Line released the following statement "Holland America Line operates a comprehensive program to ensure the safety and security of its guests and ship personnel. The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. We continue to work closely with authorities regarding the incident and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
Maasdam had departed Montreal on October 1st for a seven-day Canada/New England cruise to Boston.
