It seems cruise lines are getting more and more innovative when it comes to creating a cruise with a difference
The introduction of celebrity guests seems to be going down a storm and is certainly making the featured cruise sell out faster than the PS3 did when it was first released.
First came the introduction of speciality restaurants from celebrity chefs which was a very good move indeed by the cruise lines, it created a ship with a difference and something it seemed everyone wanted to sample at least once. Being able to return home and boast to all your friends how you dined onboard your super liner in a restaurant by none other than Marco Pierre White certainly seemed to make waves, good ones of course.
Recently however it seems the introduction of celebrities and other special guests is growing in popularity with both the cruise lines and guests, take for example P&O Cruises, this year onboard Arcadia they have not one but TWO very special guests. Derren Brown, an amazing illusionist and magicican and Russell Watson, a hugely successful operatic singer. Both cruises I am aware sold out within minutes, quite literally, and there are hundreds of people in a stand-by list just in case anyone were to cancel their booking.
Although P&O have stepped out just a little further with these cruises there are many others following in very similar footsteps, take for example Royal Caribbean International, just recently they have debuted menus onboard Allure of the Seas by award winning chef Michael Schwartz, it seems a cruise ship really isn’t a cruise ship without a celebrity infused menu or restaurant.
I think in coming years we may well see more in the way of special celebrity guests and maybe this is something that really will boost sales of certain cruises, not necessarily because passengers want to cruise potentially to where the ship is sailing too but simply because it is a rare chance to appreciate something a little different.
