How time flies when you are having fun at sea! Yes it is a year since her Majesty The Queen gave Queen Elizabeth, Cunard Line’s newest fleet addition her official name. The ship officially entered service the following day October 12th as she set sail on her maiden voyage, exactly a year ago today.
In the last year Queen Elizabeth has steamed an impressive 124,375 nautical miles and in her first year at sea carried 52,600 passengers around the world’s oceans and back. She has also undertaken one world voyage and has transited both the Suez and Panama Canals.
Peter Shanks, President, Cunard Line released the following statement “Who could forget the magnificent spectacle in Southampton last year when The Queen graciously named our new liner – the second largest Cunarder ever built? A truly memorable occasion for all of us at Cunard and around the world, and one still talked about today. Queen Elizabeth has established herself as a firm favourite and I am very proud of both the ship and her crew.”
