As 2011 slowly comes to an end we take a look back at some of the best cruise highlights of 2011.
First of all 2011 was a big year for new ship deliveries. We were graced with the amazing Disney Dream, Carnival Magic, Oceania Marina and the Celebrity Silhouette just to name a few.
We also saw the completition of the Falmouth cruise pier in Jamacia which is big enough to cater for the likes of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis and Allure of the Seas.
2011 in all was a great year for cruising, new and innovative cruise ideas and best of all it was the birth year of some very interesting ships.
So what else, well, P&O Cruises sold their beloved Artemis and then replaced Gary Rhodes restaurants on it’s remaining vessels with those of Marco Pierre-White. P&O Cruises Azura also celebrated her very 1st birthday.
Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth 2 met in Dubai for the very first time. January 13th was an epic moment for Cunard as all three of the line’s fleet met up in beautiful New York City for the very first time, this really has got to be one of the biggest and best cruise highlights of 2011.
Saga was voted best cruise line, Fred Olsen became .com and the S.S. United States was sold.
I suppose with 2011 coming to a close we should all start to look forward to what 2012 will bring us avid cruisers after all, we are always looking for something new and innovative upon our glorious cruise ships to keep us happy and entertained whilst onboard.
2011 has also been the year of cheap Cruise Deals, with the recession biting hard, cruise lines are having to slash their prices to fill cruise ships, I think the lowest price I saw was £199 for 7 nights.
