We are all aware there are oceans out there and ship’s that sail them but what about a relaxing river cruise instead.
In recent years river cruising has become ever more popular. There are some stunning destinations on offer and the ship’s are rather impressive too. You can sit back relax and enjoy tranquil days aboard your floating hotel and really get hands on with the destinations you are visiting.
A river cruise is a slightly more social affair. Most larger river boats carry a maximum of 250 passengers with the smaller carrying as few as 25. They are tidy barges and flat boats oozing with the sophistication of the modern day traveller.
Recent years have seen the likes of Viking River Cruises and AMA Waterways introduce stunning modern vessel’s with an edge for design and definitely the modern day appeal.
You can visit places such as Amsterdam, Cambodia, Italy, Vietnam and Egypt onboard a river boat and this probably is the best way to truly take in your surroundings. These small boats can glide effortlessly under bridges and squeeze through various locks and river ways in order to bring you right up close and personal to the beating heart of your destinaation.
Another benefit of a river cruise is the option for sightseeing. With most cruise line’s the sheer volume of passengers makes it impossible to cater excursions for everyone and at no extra cost but, because the river boat is a more intimate affair it is possible to leave your vessel in small groups and embark on a wonderful tour which is often already included in the cost of your cruise.
With river cruising focussing more on the natural outdoor world it is often a less formal atmosphere both day and night however there are one or two more formal river cruise lines available should you prefer to dress up of an evening.
