How solo passengers can save money

The easiest way to save most on your cruise is to ask your cruise operator or travel agent to seek out a roommate for you. Sharing a room can almost halve the cost of your holiday. But if you don’t fancy travelling with a stranger, try asking your friends, family and workmates to see if anybody would like to take the same cruise and share the cabin costs. There are some organisations that do this for you: the Connecting Solo Travel Network, Travel Acquaintance, Travel Buddies and Travel Chums all provide this serviced for a fee. Even if you’re travelling with a loved one, look out for other cruise takers you can chum with: four people often get a group discount on excursions organised privately, and four of you in a taxi pay only a quarter of the price each, while two of you pay half the price each!
