Princess Cruises Unveil Spa Plans for New Royal Princess Ship

Princess Cruises have unveiled plans for a relocated and expanded spa on its newest cruise ship the Royal Princess.

The 3,600-passenger ship, which debuts in June 2013, will have more treatment rooms than any of its fleet-mates and an enhanced thermal suite called the Enclave.

Spa-goers will no longer have to trek to a top corner of the ship, the standard location for cruise ship spas, for their pampering as the Lotus Spa on the Royal Princess has been relocated just off the atrium.

The spa will cover all the bases with a full-service salon, teeth whitening stations, a barber shop, mani-pedi areas, a relaxation room and 18 treatment rooms.

The Enclave will be the largest thermal suite in the fleet, complete with a hydrotherapy pool and accompanying rain shower. Within the suite, passengers can try out heated stone or water beds and sensory showers with mood lighting and therapeutic aromas.

The Scrub & Shine Bar offers sugar and salt scrubs mixed for each passenger individually and two new Couples Villas are aimed at twosomes looking for side-by-side massages, followed by relaxation in a whirlpool path or sitting area with ocean views.

This recent announcement is just a small part of a multitude of features that have already been revealed by Princess. Some of which include an innovative SkyWalk, Princess Live! Television studio, the largest ever Princess Theatre, the elimination of non-balcony outside cabins and a sports complex featuring a laser shooting range and batting cage.

As the first of two 141,000-ton Princess new-builds, The Royal Princess, which is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, will debut with a series of 12-night cruises out of Barcelona and Venice.
